I’ll Have a Happy Meal and a Marriage, Please: HK McDonald’s to Offer Weddings
Now I really can’t wait until 2011: Starting January 1 of next year, McDonald’s Hong Kong will be offering nuptial packages for couples.
The package has all the details to attract a wedding banquet cynic or a Golden Arches obsessive: a baked apple pie wedding cake, dress made out of party balloons, kiddie party favors for guests, and of course, catering by McDonald’s.
Alcohol is banned to make sure there won’t be drunk party guests acting inappropriately at the family venue, so newly weds will have to toast their union with soft drinks instead.
During this period of economic uncertainty in Hong Kong, the price of “a few thousand Hong Kong dollars” ($1 HKD = $0.13 USD) for holy matrimony is undoubtedly a sweet deal. It’s no wonder the fast food chain has been receiving ten calls per month from interested couples. At least you’ll no longer need a drunk best man to be embarrassed.
